"Recently, a group of youth advocates in Nebraska launched the Girl Up Nebraska Coalition to take a widespread problem and focus on the role it plays in our community. The goal of the Nebraska Coalition is to to facilitate communication between various Nebraska Girl Up Chapters, expand the Girl Up movement in our region, and connect Nebraska to the United Nations."

“As older women, we need to realize the impact we have on younger girls and how we can inspire them,” she said. “In the changing world we’re in today, we need to encourage girls to speak up, speak their minds and be involved in the things they want to be involved in.”

“It’s a way to elevate young people’s voice in our society and show them that they are truly worth something. [Even though] the Like a Girl Empowerment Programs are for elementary and middle schoolers [they] are run completely by high school students as well.”
